We’re seeking a sharp and detailed VP of Finance to join their ranks. Our ideal candidate will have a combination of expertise in GAAP, day-to-day Accounting operations as well as attaining government grants, interest-free loans, Strategic Planning, Forecasting, Budgets, CapEx, Costing, and Cash Management. The incumbent will have strong Leadership experience, providing financial oversight, and the ability to influence business decisions by providing key financial insights.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute financial strategies that support the company’s long-term goals.
- Provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of the company’s financial and operational strategy.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to make strategic decisions regarding growth, investments, cost management, and resource allocation.
- Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes in alignment with GAAP standards.
- Analyze financial performance and identify areas for improvement and cost efficiencies.
- Create detailed financial models to support decision-making, including cash flow analysis and profitability assessments.
- Advise the CEO, CFO, and other executives on financial implications of business strategies.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements in full compliance with GAAP, ensuring they are accurate, timely, and in accordance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the organization’s financial reporting aligns with GAAP, including proper recognition of revenue, expenses, and asset/liability management.
- Lead the preparation of internal and external financial reports for stakeholders, investors, and regulatory bodies, including tax filings, grant-related reports, and disclosures of interest-free loans.
- Oversee the application and management of government grants, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and deadlines.
- Monitor the use of government funds and ensure they are allocated and spent in accordance with grant terms and regulatory requirements.
- Lead efforts to secure government grants, identifying potential funding opportunities that align with organizational goals.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting to government agencies to remain compliant with grant terms, including providing audit support during government reviews.
- Manage the accounting and administration of interest-free loans, ensuring compliance with loan terms and conditions, including repayment schedules and appropriate use of funds.
- Ensure accurate financial reporting of interest-free loans on balance sheets and income statements, adhering to regulatory and GAAP standards.
- Develop strategies to efficiently repay loans while maintaining optimal cash flow and resource allocation.
- Oversee the proper documentation of interest-free loan agreements and ensure compliance with any specific restrictions or guidelines associated with these financial resources.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, particularly those related to the management of government grants and interest-free loans.
- Establish and maintain a system of internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure compliance with GAAP and other relevant financial standards.
- Work closely with internal and external auditors to ensure the organization’s financial practices and records are accurate and in compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Build, manage, and mentor the finance team, promoting a culture of performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of finance department staff to ensure they are aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives.
- Foster a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations, goals, and accountability.
- Oversee investor relations, including communications with shareholders, investors, and potential stakeholders.
- Manage capital structure, banking relationships, and financing arrangements to support company growth.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to raise funds for expansion, acquisitions, or other business activities.

REQUIREMENTS
- BA in Business, Accounting, or Finance
- CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) designation
- Minimum 10+ years of relevant Financial experience
- Prior Manufacturing experience and exposure to Cost Accounting
- Job shop or project-based Manufacturing experience
- Advanced skill in MS Excel and Accounting software packages
- In-depth understanding of Canadian GAAP
- Experience implementing ERP systems an asset
- Motivated, dedicated, committed Leader
- Detail-oriented with ability to prioritize work, set goals, and meet deadlines
- Outstanding communication skills – interpersonal, presentation, written, and verbal
- Experience in a multi-currency environment a plus
